New Music: Sweetie - High Maintenance
Saweetie is in her bag!
The ICY GRL herself, released her debut EP, High Maintenance, and it is full of feel-good records that remind women to boss up and put themselves first before anything else.
For this to be our first listen of what Sweetie can do outside of her infamous car covers and her hit song "ICY GRL" that sampled Khia's, "My Neck, My Back," we're so impressed! The 9-track EP solidifies the 24-year old as someone to watch out for in the hip-hop game because not only is her swag on 1000, but she's spitting some pretty dope bars.
Pulling from both the Cali sound, and the trap sound coming out of the South, the almost overnight star, shows off her range with the shit talking "Good Good" and the confident "B.A.N."
"You thought you was slick, but you slipping'/ Almost had me thinkin' you was different," Saweetie raps in B.A.N. "Now I'm out here wildin' with my niggas."
Though it feels like the Cali-born rapper finds a bit more comfort rapping over beats with noticeable samples, she shows promise for what she can create in the future. Saweetie feels more accessible than a Nicki Minaj, but boasts a swag that's more relatable than a Cardi B, and we can't wait to see what's next.
High Maintenance is her intro to the world, and to us it feels like just the beginning!
