New Music: Ravyn Lenae - Crush EP
We're a bit late to the party with this one, but we wanted to make sure that we took our time to give Miss Ravyn Lenae the credit she deserves in a She Sounds Like Her post.
If you haven't heard of Ravyn in the last year and a half, umm what are you doing?! The singer who prides herself in her Chicago roots, is only 19, but is destined to be a star. For Valentine's Day 2018, she treated fans to her Steve Lacy produced Crush EP, and to say it's pure ear candy is an understatement.
The EP feels like a nod to the '70s and '80s with a millennial twist and it honestly just feels really good. Led by her single, "Sticky," Lenae delivers smooth and clear vocals, while concurrently serving listeners with a youthful and fresh vibe throughout the entire EP. It's honestly hard to think of what not to like about the project just because it sounds so fun and soulful.
The stand out track for us on Crush is "4 Leaf Clover" because it sounds like teenage love on a hot summer day.
"Hey, we're meant to be, whoa/ One day you will see," Ravyn and Steve duet. "Where oh where is my four leaf clover?/ What I gotta do to give in to you/ I just don't want what we got to be over..."
If we're being honest though, the only down side to this EP is that it's not any longer. Ravyn is set to go on tour at the end of this month. Catch her in a city near you!
