Artist Spotlight: Whitney Woerz
Introducing you to Whitney Woerz!
You may or may not have heard of this rising pop star, but this 16-year-old with the big voice is a force to be reckoned with. With the release of her debut single "Idea of Her," which she wrote all by herself, she's making waves with her unique perspective and a voice you can't get out of your head.
The single is an ode, to feeling like you're not good enough but knowing in your heart of hearts that the person, or young women you are is more than enough. Her maturity to address envy, jealousy, and self-acceptance at such an impressionable age is beyond commendable.
"You fear all hate and being alone/ But hate it when someone tells you that you are loved
An insecure sadness locked behind a smile/ Potential and beauty stuck under it all
Favorite word's "attention" why do we give in/ The good side of you remains in my head
You like the idea of her/ But rip away the skin..."
Whether you're a grown woman *Beyoncé voice*, or you're a growing teen, anyone can relate to this song, and that's what's going to help Whitney turn into a star. I'm keeping my eyes out for this 16-year-old hailing from NY, and something's telling me you should too.
