Artist Spotlight: Jayme Shaye
Say hi to Jayme Shaye!
The songstress who hails from Cincinnati by way of Cali, is hidden gem waiting for you guys to discover her. She recently released her debut project, Detoxic, at the beginning of March, and with these vocals, you NEED it in your life.
The young mother mother with the soulful tone and the sick pen game sold us on the first song off the album, "Toxic." Once you get over the pleasant shock that she can actually sing her butt off and start listening, it's hard not to admit you probably could relate. Detoxic is all about freeing yourself from the things and people that you don't need in your life any more and sis, we've all been there.
A stand out from Detoxic is "Blessing," a song that samples Jhené Aiko's "The Worst," but in her case, she's begging for permission to let go. An emotion that many can relate to when they're just not sure of their next step or move.
"See I got this this called love, and I don't know if I even know what that is anymore/ Just a four-letter word, and boy does it hurt," she sings. "I need your blessing, I won't go until I get your blessing (Oh give me your blessing."
Jayme's album feels like an emotional spring cleaning of sorts, and for that reasoning alone, you should probably add this album to your playlist. We can't wait to see what's next for this newcomer, and we look forward to see her grow the rest of 2018.
Detoxic is now on all DSPs. Take a listen below and let us know you what you think!
