Spoken Word: Sabrina Benaim - "on the last gesture between us"

Ohhh Sabrina Benaim, thank you for being the girlfriend that we always needed!

Not sure if you've been blessed to watch Sabrina pour out her heart on a stage before, but it's a beautiful experience. She's the mastermind behind the viral poem "Explaining My Depression to My Mother," and her latest online performance isn't any less powerful.

Her poem, "on the last gesture between us," isn't as in your face as what you might know her for, but it pulls at your heart strings because of the subtleties. The beauty of human interactions and every day occurrences, like taking an uber or finding the courage to say goodbye is what makes this poem and stage reading something so special.

"And right now, as I sit with my eyes closed, tears streaming and a little tipsy, let's be honest," Benaim states. "I am a jazz girl/ A girl pulled of taffy/ A girl that will chew at a waved goodbye for weeks before spitting it out onto a page/ To a song titled "I-think-I'll-prefer-you-a-stranger-some-day..."

And though it's never easy to say goodbye, at least Sabrina makes it feel like you're never going to have be alone while doing it.

Watch her performance below.
